What are Elements?

Today, we often speak of four elements: earth, water, air, and fire, omitting the Akasha — the
fifth element that represents the foundation of the remaining four.

1. Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius).

Fire signs are passionate and exuberant.

2. Earth Signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn).

Earth signs are practical and grounded.

3. Air Signs (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius).

Air signs are intellectual and curious.

4. Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces).

Water signs are intuitive and emotional.

The 5th Element represents the foundation of the four above. Read more about the 5th element below.

How do Crystals align with each Element?

Crystals have energetic properties that align with the Elements. The magicians, alchemists, and holy people of the past knew how to use crystals and relate them to the five basic elements of nature.

Although this is less prevalent today, there is a lot that we can learn from past teachings incorporate crystals into our daily spirit work, to help balance our minds, bodies, and spirit.

Let's use Aries as an example:

ARIES (March 21-April 19):

Element: Fire

Aries is ruled by Mars, the red planet of energy and drive. These stones embody this fire sign’s fiery nature with their bright red tones and powerful energy.

  • Red jasper prevents energy loss.
  • Carnelian enhances passion.
  • Citrine promotes manifestation.

What is the 5th Element?

The four Elements—Earth, Air, Fire and Water — together comprise the physical world, there is a Fifth Element, often referred to as Spirit, that exists within all four of them.

The Spirit Element
is immaterial, yet present in all things, and does not exist apart from anything else. It is invisible, but essential for connection and balance
between all other Elements.

Other names for the Spirit Element include:

  • Aether
  • Akasha
  • Space
